Background
We have supported Switch Up for more than five years, providing pro bono PR and marketing services to promote its vital work with vulnerable young people in Nottingham.
The Switch Up team approached several of its long-time partners to help organise its first Sporting Heroes Dinner, a black-tie event combining sporting celebrity guests and the powerful stories of some of the charity’s service users.
Approach
Working alongside fellow promoters Gleeds, RizkMcCayTribe, Morgan Sindall and Chord Consult, we devised a targeted strategy to ensure both the booking of high-quality celebrity guests and the sale of tables at the event.
Alongside our press and social media outreach, we provided a vital on-site presence on the evening of the event, including auction support, video interviews and guest management.
Results
The sold-out event took place at the Nottingham Belfry, with 450 guests in attendance for a packed evening featuring appearances from Torvill and Dean, boxing world champion Leigh Wood and Paralympian Richard Whitehead.
We conducted video interviews with celebrity hosts Vernon Kay and Darren Fletcher to promote the event and the Switch Up cause to a wider audience, and assisted with the evening’s grand auction.
Overall, the event raised nearly £70,000, all of which has directly supported Switch Up and its charitable work in Nottinghamshire.
“Since working with Cartwright Communications, I have been immensely impressed by their results, commitment and generosity to us as a charity. Cartwright has done great things for our community such as events and launches, including our ‘Sporting Heroes’ dinner. “When things get tough, Cartwright has got your back. I love working with the team and I look forward to working with them even more in the future.”
