The challenge we were asked to solve
As a long-term supporter of Switch Up, we were first approached to help organise its first ever charity dinner in 2019, an event created to promote the charity’s vital work with vulnerable young people in Nottingham.
At the time, Switch Up was completely new to the events space, with no knowledge of who to target for table sales, how to format the evening or what content would engage with the audience, allowing us to bring in our extensive experience in delivering high-quality, large-format events to deliver an unforgettable evening
Six events later, our role has grown into an ongoing partnership built around fundraising, awareness and live event delivery, including support of further Switch Up initiatives including Uniting Nottz and its Community Hub board.
Insights applied to identify growth opportunities
We knew the event needed to do more than fill tables. To raise meaningful funds, Switch Up needed an evening that combined sporting profile, powerful personal stories and a clear connection to the young people it supports. The opportunity was to turn goodwill into action through a memorable, emotionally engaging event, with individual follow-ups designed for all table leads to survey those that attended to ensure the event remains fresh year-on-year.
How we leveraged intelligence
Working alongside fellow promoters, we used targeted PR, social media outreach, guest management, video production and live event support to build momentum before and during each dinner. Ahead of each event, we used our connections to ensure that the right people were in the room and engaged with the cause. On the night, we helped produce and stage manage each event, supporting auction activity and filming video messages from patrons and supporters unable to attend, as well as making the right connections to help further the Switch Up cause.

“For the past six years, Cartwright has been an incredible partner to Switch Up, and their commitment has gone far beyond simply supporting our Charity Dinner. They have become part of our journey and our mission.
What makes the team at Cartwright so special is that they genuinely care. They understand that behind every pound raised is a young person who will receive vital support, opportunities and hope for a brighter future. Their belief in our work has helped us grow one of the city’s flagship charity events, and we simply could not have achieved what we have without them”
