Background
As part of the plans for a 136-hectare sustainable urban extension on the outskirts of Skegness, we created a communications strategy announcing the launch of the scheme to local and regional audiences. This included stakeholder mapping, reaching out to key decision-makers and conducting a public consultation, to support a Local Development Order to be presented to the government.
Approach
Using our strategic communications plan, we identified the right people for the developer to liaise with and launched a tactical media campaign to win hearts and minds locally, including the community, councillors and MPs, key organisations, and local authorities. We created a detailed prospectus for potential occupiers and strategic partners and launched the Skegness Gateway website and social media channels to showcase the plans.
Results
Using our skills in building strategic relationships and creating extensive stakeholder mapping, we organised a series of meetings for the Croftmarsh partners to generate support. Hundreds of people attended our public consultation and we collated all their feedback to support the LDO.
