Background
Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust has submitted plans to build a brand new purpose-built ‘Community Diagnostics Centre’ and as part of the initial process, wanted to engage with a range of NHS stakeholders as well as inform the general public about the plans.
Approach
As an NHS Foundation Trust, the range of stakeholders involved in this project is wide and complex – and engaging with every level formed a crucial part of the project. We worked closely alongside the comms and project teams to develop a communication and engagement strategy to target each level of stakeholder – as well as a proactive media relations approach to ensure the local community was able to learn more about the plans.
This involved a range of internal communications tactics as well as an on-site information event at Mansfield Community Hospital, where the plans were showcased and visitors could find out more from the project team.
Results
We successfully reached all our target stakeholders and representatives with great success, with many expressing their support for the scheme. The event attracted a range of attendees, including NHS staff, senior management and the general public. Planning permission for the project has been achieved.
