Approach

Our approach consisted of introducing Mevo’s first-of-a-kind factory to the world, positioning it as a leader in sustainable, innovative, AI-driven cement manufacturing. Securing in-person press introductions and media coverage in top national and trade outlets and raising brand and product awareness among the concrete production and specification industries, attracting potential customers.

Working to a tight deadline, Cartwright organised the event within one month. The team delivered media training for Mevo’s senior team, prepared a press release and series of LinkedIn posts, and invited an extensive list of trade, national and regional press to join an exclusive factory launch tour, which took place a day before the embargo lifted. 

To ensure national interest, we offered BBC Wales the broadcast exclusive ahead of those attending the event, with Cartwright facilitating local reporters at a filming and interview session with Mevo’s CEO in advance.

Results

We secured a massive 43 clippings, gaining 14 backlinks and a broadcast exclusive for gold tier title, BBC Wales, filmed ahead of the launch event. 

The press day was a real success, with attendance from The Times; trade press attendance from Quarry Management, Professional Housebuilder, Concrete Magazine and Construction Index; as well as a representative from key industry body, the Mineral Products Association. 

As part of Cartwright’s ongoing efforts to deliver real impact for the start-up, introductory meetings were also secured with major architecture firms, Heatherwick Studios and AFL Architects, to understand more about the integration of ultra-low carbon cement on construction projects, demonstrating the real value that a successful comms approach can provide.
